He is a Tenured Associate Professor of Biowaste Management and Process Systems in the Faculty of Agriculture, Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, Canada. He completed his Ph.D. research at the University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada and subsequently worked as an Industry Research Chair in Innovative Waste Management at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College. He is currently on sabbatical leave working and collaborating with the Environmental Biogeochemistry Group at the IDAEA-CSIC focused on understanding the impact of emerging substances of concern in agro-ecosystems receiving reclaimed irrigation water. His research interests include fate and transport of emerging pollutants from municipally-derived sources and modeling dynamics of chemical degradation in soils. He has previously been president of the Canadian Society of Soil Science and is currently a member of the British Columbia Ministry of Environment Technical Working Group tasked to undertake a Biosolids Scientific Review for the province.
